Restoration of a farmhouse in Val d’Orcia

Farm internally and externally renovated with the construction of a new heated swimming pool.

The building appeared as a single building on two levels, the ground floor, as in most of the Tuscan farms, was used as a shelter for animals.

Before the renovation, the structure was in a state of neglect and had suffered collapses and damage.

The recovery intervention has preserved the volume, the distribution type, the materials and the structural shape of the original building, while implementing all the necessary changes to obtain high energy, functional and comfort results.

The materials present on site were reused as much as possible and where this was not possible, the finishing of the building was carried out with solutions and materials characteristic of southern Tuscany.

The materials come entirely from local quarries, producers and artisans, to maintain the strong and characteristic identity of the place and harmony with the surrounding nature.

This project is strongly oriented towards sustainability and energy self-sufficiency.
